infinidb and /dev/shm

Hi,

I noticed that InfiniDB is using /dev/shm following a fresh install;

- Is this created during installation? or does the install notice that /dev/shm has been configured and is using it?

- I have the luxury of querying read-only data : is it possible to configure the DBRoot on /dev/shm? Has anyone done it? What would your advise be about symlinking the data1 directory to /dev/shm?

Thank You!

Sundar

Hi Sundar,

InfininiDB assumes the /dev/shm is available during installation.

InfiniDB does cache data in memory for PrimProc so data is loaded in RAM. We are not aware of anyone attempting to use a sym link for data1 to /dev/shm.

Thanks,

Robert
