BRM is in read-only state.

Hello,

I got the error with Cpimport:

BRM is in read-only state.  cpimport.bin is terminating.

Is there a piece of documentation where I can learn about what is BRM and what can lock it and how to lift the lock without restarting InfiniDB.

Also when restarting InfniniDB, mysql-Calpont script is not triggered also, I have to restart mysql instance separately. Is it correct behavior? How to manage this properly?

Thanks.

The BRM (Block Resolution

The BRM (Block Resolution Manager) is InfiniDB's distributed metadata subsystem. When InfiniDB detects an inconsistency in the BRM it puts the entire BRM into read-only mode. Often times this can be cleared by restarting the system. If, after restarting the system, the BRM is still read-only, the contents of the various log files in /var/log/Calpont can point to the problem area.

Hi Robert,

Hi Robert,

Thank you for the update. However, my concern is that the log directory doesn't contain logs you often mention on the forum, e.g. crit.log. Do I need to enable it somehow or...?

By the way, what actions can lead to inconsistencies in BRM?

logs

InfiniDB utilizes the system logging functionality that exist on the system, whether it be syslog, rsyslog, or syslog-ng.

This should have been setup during install time. You can run the following script to set it up again.

# /usr/local/Calpont/bin/syslogSetup.sh install

Then restart you system service

Try this and restart the system and see if logs start showing up.

# cc restartsystem y

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

But again, what actions can lead to inconsistencies in BRM?
